Mission, Vision & Core Values
At TAG Muay Thai, we believe martial arts is more than training – it’s a way to grow, lead, and live with purpose. Our mission, vision, and values define who we are as a team and community, guiding everything we do inside and outside the gym.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower individuals of all ages through authentic Muay Thai training. We are committed to building confidence, discipline, resilience, and community – helping every student grow into the best version of themselves both on and off the mats.
Our Vision
Our vision is to establish a world-class Muay Thai academy in Northern Virginia, recognized for professionalism, excellence, and inclusivity. We strive to inspire growth, provide opportunities based on merit, and develop athletes and leaders who thrive in every area of life – whether in the classroom, the workplace, or the global arena of competition.
Core Values
We hold ourselves to the highest standards, demonstrating focus, integrity, and respect in everything we do.
We believe in constant improvement – never satisfied, always striving for perfection.
Every student earns progress through dedication and effort. Nothing is given; everything is achieved.
We value modesty and respect, balanced with the self-belief to pursue ambitious goals.
We succeed together. Whether in training or competition, we support one another as family.
Muay Thai teaches us to adjust, respond, and overcome challenges – skills that apply both in the ring and in life.

Built on Passion, Perseverance & Authentic Muay Thai
TAG Muay Thai was built on passion, perseverance, and a vision to bring authentic Muay Thai to Northern Virginia.
Founder Christopher “Kru Chris” Aboy began martial arts in 1989 after being bullied on a military base. His journey – from Taekwondo tournaments, to kickboxing and grappling, to finding his home in Muay Thai under professional fighter Kru Bryan Dobler – forged a lifelong pursuit of mastery, humility, and resilience.

The Birth of TAG: Black & Gold Tradition
In October 2006, while serving in federal law enforcement in Washington, DC, Chris began teaching Muay Thai out of his garage. These small sessions planted the seeds for TAG Muay Thai.
During this time, TAG adopted its signature black and gold colors:
- Black for strength, resilience, and professionalism.
- Gold for excellence, achievement, and pride.
These colors remain our identity today, representing the standards we bring to every class and every student.

More Than Training—A Way of Life
From garage sessions to our Sterling, VA academy, TAG has grown into a thriving home for kids, adults, competitors, and families. We survived relocations, COVID shutdowns, and countless challenges, proving that our community is unbreakable.
At TAG, students don’t just train – they learn discipline, confidence, respect, and community. Kids build focus and character, while adults gain fitness, self-defense, and resilience.

World-Class Partnerships & Seminars
TAG has become a recognized name in the global Muay Thai and MMA community. As a media partner with ONE Championship, we share fight highlights, interviews, and behind-the-scenes content.
We also host exclusive seminars with legends like Samart Payakaroon, Kaensak Sor Ploenjit, Superbon, Tawanchai, Rodtang, Stamp Fairtex, Nong-O, and Glover Teixeira – offering students once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to learn from champions.
Legacy in the Making
From a garage in 2006 to becoming Northern Virginia’s premier Muay Thai academy, our mission has never changed: empower individuals of all ages through authentic Muay Thai, building confidence, resilience, and community that feels like family.
